Ahh yes, the Walter. This is a unique #wallet. The design is very minimal, but what sets it apart is the additional card sleeve on the back of the wallet. The image you see above is especially unique because of the natural ghost #leather used as the front pocket.

The two wallets that I currently make are both #minimaliststyle. The reason for that being most of us only carry cards anymore. Also, current fashion trends don't really allow for big bulky bi/tri-fold wallets. I would like to make a traditional bi-fold though so if you're a cargo pants enthusiast or are just in the market for one, hit me up at @commodoreleather.

I like this wallet because while it has a slim profile, it allows for cards to be carried horizontally instead of vertically like most #cardholders. Don't let it fool you though, the Walter is capable of holding 4 cards in the front pocket and 2 in the rear sleeve.

You might be wondering where the name for this one came from? Well, keeping with the theme of family names, Walter was the name of my Great, Great Uncle. And just like the design of this wallet, Uncle Walt was...unique.

Uncle Walt was a hermit, plain and simple. He never cared much for people and according to him, people never cared much for him. He was a Navy veteran of WWII who was known for carrying 100 lb. gunny sacks of coal in each hand.

When he came back from the war, he decided that simple living was his path. He set up shop on our family farm and lived out of an old cabin he and his brother built. He raised chickens, geese, turkeys, and at one point peacocks.

I don't know that many people today could truly grasp how simple he actually lived. His diet consisted mostly of milk and honey, but he would also eat just about anything that grew on a tree. In the summertime, he had an old bed frame under a tree, just the frame and bedsprings, that he would sleep on.

So, in the spirit of Uncle Walt, this wallet is simple. Two pockets to carry just what you need and not anymore. "But this is the best life in the world to me" - Uncle Walt.

If you're interested in getting one of the wallets in the photo or having a Walter made, send me an email or a direct message on Instagram. If you want to learn more about Uncle Walt, read this interview with him from 1981. His interview begins on pg. 7.
